Are you serious? Low 30s for a PhD? That's crazy.

Hi Ted, good to see you back.

We must have scared the OP off; we haven't heard a peep back from him.

Paralegals in the law firm I work at. The Ph.D is the office manager.

I thought it was crazy for the people who have 4-year degrees. But I'm from New Jersey so I'm still skewed or screwy...take yer pick.

It is not the level of the degree but what field it is in. A Ph.D in music or marine biology is not going to make the same as Ph.D in petroleum engineering.

After putting the jobs and salaries in a cost of living calculator you see even though numbers seem low. The salaries are actually pretty equal to other areas.

Default nurses?

Hi, I'm new here but looking into the Knoxville area, like a lot of Floridians. Any idea what an RN with about a year of hospital experience working in cardiac stepdown care and ICU would make? And what hospitals are good to work at? Also is there a high demand for nurses in the Knoxville area? Thanks in advance!

Would you say there is work out there if someone is willing to take anything, until something better comes up? Or there just isn't any work at this time?

There are some jobs here available. Most are quite low paying.

Nurses, especially with your experience, should be fine. I'm training for my LPN after years in IT.
