That's what I mean. Florida used to be part of the South. But "ignorant people who deride Southerners as hicks, stupid, inbred, etc" (as Leonard said) most certainly did flock to Florida and ruined the place.

I'll never forget as a kid when my mother came home in tears because some Northern women at a fabric store in Citrus County FL made fun of her Southern accent and called her a hick.

Wow, talk about stereotypes and generalizations. I wonder what Pam & Bill are going to say about those comments.

Just sitting here wondering if we can ever have a thread stay open on north vs south........or perhaps a better question is when will there stop being these threads altogether? These questions (threads) never seem to add any value to the forum. Both nice and rude people on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line.......

Not a thing. Whats the matter Dave, did I hurt your feelings because I pointed out that your impression of most Knoxville natives was wrong or because I singled you out and questioned your motives when you used a blanket statement that implied a preconceived notion?
If I used error in my comments, I apologize. But the fact seems obvious that you think all Knoxvillians have gun racks in their pick up trucks and you were planning on getting one to fit in. It isn't about that you like guns and need a ice breaker. It is about your statement of hopefully moving to Knoxville soon and you plan on getting Orange and mounting a gun rack. That implies that you have a desire to blend. All I did was point out that your impression of Knoxville was wrong about the gun rack.
Pam

Pam, I'll give you credit, you don't give up! You latch on and don't let go!
Men that argue with women, do so at their own peril. Because of that, I will be the nice guy that I am and refrain from doing so. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

My husband and I are retired. We moved to the very small town of Michie, TN four years ago. We have been excepted into the community, and have never had any problems. We love it here.
