Thumbs up IT Jobs in Knoxville Area

I just got my work permit today. I'm looking for an IT position in West Knoxville area, but Oak Ridge would be second preference. Is there any advice as to where to look, other than the obvious, such as local Sentinel newspaper, internet job sites, etc.

Hi Henry,

What do you mean work permit? Is that something you get to be an entity or is there a permit for IT work? Sorry to be so confused and good luck in the job search. Welcome to the forum.

SmokyMtnGirl, Henry is probably not a citizen.

aquarijen, who do you work for? I'm not looking for work at the moment, but lots of people are getting laid off right now.

Henry, I found my job at dice.com.

I'm a Canadian. It took a year of bureaurocracy to do the immigration. It took a week to have my first interview, but, I was deemed to be overqualified for the job. The job prospects appear to be pretty dry out there. I will try dice dot com. Thanks to all of you. ...Henry

Hi Henry, Good luck with your search. I have been there done that.Mine took 10 years to resolve. It was most tedious!!! I've had that same problem "overqualified" you have to adjust your resume to the work offered.

If you are self-taught in Linux, and you wish to be "acknowledged for your knowledge", then obtain an industry-wide certification for it, i.e. by writing the CompTIA "Linux+" exam. If you obtain a high score, then it will impress your prospective employer. (The same reasoning goes for any other subject in the field of hardware/software.) [I'm going to write the Linux+ also.]
