CS you are entitled to your opinions and I’m happy you enjoy living in TV. TV Is not for me and my opinion does not need your snide commentary. As I stated we did not do our due diligence and were swayed by the initial appearance which changes daily with more construction. But due diligence aside we will be making a killing when we sell our home, likely in a bidding war and surely above asking price so in this case it’s a win for me.

As a resident of TV for almost 9 years, I concur with CrosbyStills, but to each their own. There is no "fairyland". If you think you will move to a place where there is no crime, no racism, unanimity of opinions, the perfect amount of everything for everyone, you will always be disappointed.

Dolce_Vita's comments are exaggerated, in my opinion. I can get to the massive retail center of Turkey Creek in 20-25 minutes on a good day, and find the basics in Lenoir City 10-15 minutes away from TV. I've spent time in the perfectly adequate regional hospital in Lenoir City, and our satellite clinic of the major university hospital is there in LC also. All our specialists are at the UT clinic here at least a couple days a week. Restaurants in the rural south typically don't have the variety/quality of food available in the big cities. Not sure why you would expect different in TV. People don't talk about crime and racism much here, not becasue we believe in "fairyland", but because it's not been our experience here. If you find a place where those things don't exist, please let us all know about it so we can all move there.

Most of your time in TV has been spent in the middle of a pandemic, and so isn't really representative of how it was previously, with respect to the Wellness Center, restaurants, etc. Things are only now beginning to go back to normal. It does sound like you should have done more research, as you readily admit. Best wishes in your future home, and please close the screen door on your way out.

Excellent. I live in Silicon Valley and I experience the exact opposite of this EVERY DAY. I can't wait to leave this godforsaken place.

Prove it. Can you share a news link? After Jussie Smollett, we should all be skeptical.

I truly appreciate the replies of Crosby Stills and Shadow. I've been following this Tellico thread for years and have asked countless questions. Tellico has been my dream.

The hubs retired within two weeks of the pandemic surfacing here in the U.S. We live four city blocks from Chicago and have been on lock-down like animals all this time. This summer we had planned on taking a trip out to TV but were tied up with having repair work on our home. I've been living here because I've been compelled by family and business responsibility to do so. There hasn't been a week gone by that I haven't wished to be free to leave. Chicago is my hometown. My family has lived in the city over 100 years; I'm heartbroken by what has happened here. And it's directly due to people who think like this complaining individual. Perhaps she'd like to exchange places with me.

Reading the comment that prompted this exchange has been extremely upsetting. Unkind. Ungracious. Judgmental. Hateful of others who aren't like herself.

The one question I have is this-----Why do people who purport to be "liberal" in their thinking move to decidedly Conservative areas and then in a wholesale manner, insult and demean the people and area?

Is there no escaping people like this?????

Anyone who doesn't like it here can easily leave in short order. Houses that are put on the market have been selling in just a few days.
There are malcontents everywhere but it has been my experience that the majority of people (by a wide margin) are happy they moved here and love it.
A frequent comment I hear from people who move to Kahite (where I live) is "I can't believe how friendly everyone here is".

Can someone who is a TV resident give the latest update concerning the proposed handgun ban in public places? I watched the TVPOA meeting of 6/15 and was horrified.

Are Gun free zones going to be pushed on the residents?

Bungalowdweller, why were you horrified? It look like a peaceful, respectful meeting where the residents voiced their opinions to the board. I think the POA Board heard the residents loud and clear.

The hand gun band was never meant to be a proposal to be voted on. It was a exploratory exercise incase they needed to go that way. There was a lot of miss communication about the proposal prior to the 6/15 meeting. From the TVPOA 6/15 meeting I would say that the Hand Gun Band is not happening.

If you need more info on it you could always go to next board meeting and ask questions at the end of the meeting or call one of the board members for clarification.

Cheers,
Bob

BungalowDweller, stand by for PM.

Rsaw7854, the original agenda did in fact list the item as approved and ready to be formally voted on. Generally, provisional agendae are distributed amongst Board members for approval prior to publication.

It was shady and lacked transparency. They were caught with their hand in the cookie jar and had to rapidly pull it away. I have a copy of the original agenda. I can provide it if PM'd an email addy. Please do not do so if that is against the TOS, I do not wish to get anyone in trouble with the self-appointed powers that be here.

Thanks for your reply. I was horrified that such an action would even be considered. I thought the residents were outstanding. It's the entire "in case they needed to go that way." which is unacceptable to me.

I'm not a resident of your outstanding community. We're in the process of readying to move from where we are to rent nearby and buy a home. There is absolutely no way that we'd buy into a-n-y community that had gun restrictions like those that were "proposed". We'd be highly distrustful of any board that would even bring that under discussion in the freedom loving state of TN.

I watched the reactions of some of those board members and they were Not happy with the comments of the residents. This is a HUGE red flag for us as we ready to buy.

Hubs has been conceal carrying for years. We're in Chicago and have seen directly the efficacy of those no gun signs. They are indeed magnets for criminals. The caliber of the residents is exactly why we want to be a part of your community. Every single one who spoke was a man/woman of excellence and character.

What we Don't want is to sell our home of nearly 30 years to come to a beautiful place that attempts to compromise our personal safety and put us under the same stupid regulations we're running away from.

I genuinely appreciate your reply.
