Area MARKETING.? - State web site LINK.
What ever you Guys & Gals have on you mind, DONT try multiple Bombs placed near Banks. .That trick was used yesterday out in Aspen, Colo with out much luck.
.Only about a year now , different members on the board have been posting the STATE WEBSITE LINK. Retire Tennessee - Our Communities
.Looks like Knoxville is #8 and Chattanooga is #7 for location purposes only.
. With all the beautiful expressways your area is building, of course people are looking. Gasoline is only 1/3rd the previous cost, so people are visiting.
. Our church parish has small group from Louisana since the Katrina storm.
East Florida had that 30 inch rain flood , tropical storm FAY, which again forces people to higher ground. . All last week up North nasty ICE storms knocking out power for 5 days, then heavy , cold snow blizzards. Stranded in airports unable to travel over holidays.
. I think the weatherman is the 2nd source of Marketing for East Tenn. Just past Memphis to west seems to be Tornado bulls eye.
PS. I bet ca it's that New Football coach you guys just hired.

More middle age with kids and young adults. I know how to spot the snowbirds and many of these cars don't fit the profile. Another telling sign is the number of cars I see daily with Gators stickers or front plates and Knox Co. tags. This is primarily in the Bearden and Cedar Bluff areas. Also, this trend began last spring/summer and has been continuous since.

Maybe they are just visiting. I would think that they would be a welcome sight since they are contributing to your economy.

As a former Tn resident now in Fl trying to SELL to get back to my TN, I have to add. I have read alot of the Tn people say they don't want Fl folks coming to E TN but while here the Fl people complain about the snowbirds and say the same things. In the small town I live in I would venture to say 40% take their vacations in Gatlinburg, a several people actually own cabins there and go up every other month to stay. I was surprised they had (vacation) homes there. Last yr even the senior class trip was to Gatlinburg. Now when I asked if they ever planned on moving there they say NO, that they are not welcomed there with the so called Southern Hospitality. I had to laugh at them, if you want to feel unwelcomed come here to the panhandle! I can not wait to move back, but it may be a long time from the looks of things. Oh and no gated communities for me, thank you!

Our next door neighbors bought for more or less year round use. The grandparents will be living here part of the year, the parents and daughter part. They're all lovely people, who have moved here for the beauty and solitude. The grandfather is such a sweetheart. A very proud, hardworking man who spent his first 51 years in the states working and is now learning english. When he learned of our impending move he told us "I don't like you in New Mexico, I like you here, in TN." :-)

Of course we have Red Hats here, in fact there are several groups, we actually have some of the same things the big cities have we just dont have all the congestion that Fl has, not to say traffic isnt horrific in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg at times, its bumper to bumper, you would think you were on I4 at 5:00

Why do you assume that I am inferring that this is a negative thing? I never stated my personal opinion on the matter. If you had asked me, I would have told you that I want Knoxville to grow and am happy to see people from Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, etc. moving here. Keep 'em coming!

Bearing all that in mind, you should be saying "unfortunately," too.
Be slow to take offense. This is Tennessee, not New Jersey.

This time of year it's hard to tell, as there is a LOT of transient traffic. Add in the fact I drove a car with a Florida plate up here about a week ago, and there you have an explanation for at least one. It now has a TN tag. I think a lot of people are moving up here, but not as many as you think. It doesn't matter, people moving up at this time of the year are going to get the impression that this place is too cold and will move back unless they are from Chicago or something like that.

Do rental cars count for any of them? Lots of people visiting family over the holidays?
