FL tags in LC

Funny you should mention FL folks in TN. Me and the wife were just talking about the same thing the other day. We live in Lenoir City and an older couple (look 60+) have purchased a piece of land and moved a mobile home on it just a few houses down from us. Their cars have FL tags and they got moved in a few days before Xmas. I've been meaning to go down and welcome them to the neiborhood and ask them why they moved here from FL, but haven't had time. ME, I'm trying to get out of TN due to chronic sinus infections. Anyway, my brother works with a young lady who just moved up here from FL less than a year ago. So I agree with you Kitties, there are a lot of FL folks around here.

You are hilarious! It is so, so true! I'm still cracking up thinking about how Florida is one of the few places where you still sweat in the winter. I can't wait to leave hell Pretty soon you will see another Florida tag up your way, but I prefer the mountains to the over development and heat of Florida! I hope I'm welcomed

You will be welcomed for sure. We are in transitioning mode for our move from FL to TN (almost two years now--I'm retiring this month). Just once in all of our many trips did someone driving in the WMT parking lot in Alcoa yell out 'go back to Florida.' People are so very friendly in comparison to Florida people--at least that is our experience.

I agree, people here are the friendliest I have ever met, in FL no one waves or speaks hardly and here you ask for directions and before you leave you have their phone number. I cant begin to tell people how much I love it here due to the people, I dont feel alone any more!

I agree, I am loving it here, snow and all, drove over to Maryville late today and it was beautiful looking at the snow covered mountains and snow on the pastures, not a view you get in FL thats for sure, I am staying put here

It's 19 degrees here right now at 7:15A per weather.com. I have noticed that weather.com never seems to get the day's low temperature forecast right for my town as the actual morning temperature is always lower than their "low" forecast for the day. When I checked on another day, they were off by more than 12 degrees for their forecast low temperature.

Those temperatures ... especially the predictions... can be way off.
For instance, it might say that it won't get below 35 for the next 10 days, and then two days later it gets down to 20 for four days in a row!
I'm from Florida as well. Moved here almost exactly 4 years ago. I bought a house at probably the worst time imaginable (the peak of the nationwide housing market). Unlike Florida, my house has probably only "suffered" a price stagnation rather than an actual loss. If there is a loss, it is minimal.
There are certainly things I miss about Florida, but the summers were waaaaay to long and intense.
Now that I've been away from Florida, I really enjoy visiting my family there. The warmth in the Winter feels wonderful after driving down from a brisk Tennessee day. I can see why some people get hooked on days like that.
If property values were REAL low, I would be interested in buying some property near the beach... but that isn't happening.
