Hi everyone!

My time here in La is finally coming to an end and I've been semi-seriously house hunting now for a few months.

I have two sons, and I have narrowed my search to the Foothills elem. district in Maryville.

I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on Royal Oaks Subdivision, as I am thinking it will be a nice place to call "home."

Has anyone heard of any proposals to re-district the schools that you would tell a friend about?

Also, any general information about the neighborhood is appreciated...

PM me if needed...

Thanks,
Melanie

My ex husband lives in Royal Oaks as well as many of my friends and my sons friends. If you have elementary school age children I would not recommend. It is a golf course community and the majority of folks in there are soon to be retirees or retirees. There are never any children out playing. There are some houses that have had problems (certain builder that is no longer in business) and there are other homes that are fine. When we bought our realtor would not even take us in there. There have been some new homes built since then. The HOA is very active and very eager to hand out neighborhood citations if things aren't to their liking. There is a THP that lives in there that is known to frequently stop people if he thinks they are driving too fast or not coming to a complete stop at stop signs. I am not saying that any of this is bad, just giving you the lowdown as I know it. It is in a good location as far as the new Wal Mart and they have installed a traffic light now to get in and out of the neighborhood.

There are TONS of kids in Providence Place subdivision (with tons of nice moms that get together) and some others that have the same priced homes; have you considered other areas? Also, Westcliff is a great subdivision and it is very near Foothills. Personally, I like living in the area where the schools are located. It makes it very convenient to get to the schools and events in record time. Kids can ride their bikes to school or walk as a group. For Providence, Royal Oaks, etc. you have to get out on 411 or 129 to get to school.

DM me if you want more info. Good luck on your search.

Not that the OP seemed to concerned/interested, but Royal Oaks' (putting) greens have been rated the best in the Knoxville area for a few years now. That said, I've heard that the course could one day be replaced with McMansions.
