recent land purchase in Maryville, need to know about schools and whether to build
we purchased 5 acres on Chilly springs road in Maryville but do not know what middle/high school that will be, does anyone know? also everyone who has bought land there so far has a put a mobile home on there, should we build or follow suit? if we build will we ever get out money out of it if we sell? I've lived in a mobile home, so nothing against them, just isnt what we want to do. Does anyone have any info they would like to share of the area?

That is, if I am not mistaken, William Blount Middle and High School zoning (Blount County Schools). It is a mobile home area so if you do anything besides that you do so at your own financial risk. There is absolutely no way that anyone can possibly know if you build you will get your money out of it. Too many variables. I live in Maryville and would not move to that area, no offense.

No offense meant, but shouldn't those questions have been asked before you bought it? That is, IF they are important to you.

This is something we are thinking about also, maybe a mobile home to get a feel for the area and then build down the line? Any idea what cost of land and carrying charges (Real Estate tax, elect, homeowners Ins,cable, telephone, etc) would be in that area for 5 acres of land & perhaps a ballpark of what that land & carrying charges would be with a medium priced home on it? Any help, suggestions & helpful comments on this post will be greatly appreciated

All I can tell you is we thought after looking we got a good deal on 5 acres for $50,000 with a great view. The land has few restrictions so having lived in the country that was appealing to us to be able to buy land and do what we want on it. We spoke with a builder who says for a 1500 to 1800 sq ft home we can expect to pay $85-130 per sq foot depending on what you want in it the roof line, ho many corners, basement, etc. there is you put a mobile home on it, it must be placed permanently.

My husband has family there and I checked on schools and didnt have an issue with them as the Maryville schools are rated high, just wasnt sure which school was the middle school for that area, thanks
I knew you could put mobile homes there, we like the few restrictions and the view is great, I was planning on moving there so soon so I bought a an investment but things change. It would be helpful to know why you feel that way. i.e. Is there a highway going thru, violent inhabitants, or is it you dont like being that far out of the city, too rural?

Maryville Schools are rated high. But, your land is zoned for Blount County schools. There is a difference and they are two separate school systems.
Keep us posted on your relocation.
