I have been here 3 years and other then missing NY Pizza and Bagels, I have never been homesick.
There is so much more here in Knoxville then where I moved from.I think if you make your mind up to embrace life in a new place and grow where you are planted and not focus on what you miss or who you miss, things become home quicker.
Think 365- My husband was raised in Norleans and he misses the same things you do, but he says he loves Knoxville more then he loved New Orleans. We both are very happy in Knoxville.
Ebbie- give it time and get out and discover the new area you moved to.
All the best
Pam

I ahve to agree, when we were looking for houses there were far less WITH basements than what we were used to....we were told it is because the ground is so much harder to dig up?

Default Homesick

I left everything and everyone I knew back east.We moved with my husband 2 kids and grandaughter.I will admit I was so thrilled at first, then I started missing "home".I have to say it's taken me a bit time to adjust here.I realized just lately, I was looking back so much, I can"t enjoy the absolute beauty around me!I have since joined membership to the Smoky mnt park, and my dreamis to own a log cabin more near the Smokies.LOL.I decided I am selling my life short by looking back!I would advise peolpe to really make sure to visit and do alot of research before moving though. In the end I am glad I moved here.

Default Things are changing

I decided that one of my major problems is where we moved to. We were rushed in the move and had been apart for several months so we jumped on the first house. It was not even close to what we dreamed when deciding on moving here. So... we have sold the house and found the CUTEST new home in the mountains on five acres. I cannot tell you how much better I feel. Yes, I still miss family but I am not living in what I call the city. I've lived in the country with no one around me for years back home and it was our dream to be in the mountains. Thank you to everyone for their support. It meant an awful lot to me!!
