I recall my "where to Retire" book from over 10 years ago that had towns from across the USA in it.

The 3 from TN that were listed was Paris, Crossville, and Maryville.

Yes, we did take a trip to TN in 1998 and checked out Paris and spent 3 days at Crossville.

A couple residents of Crossville stated they did not appreciate their town getting featured and having outsiders coming to their town.

One woman told me that at a motel as I was checking out after spending 3 nights there.
(maybe they should have taken the "welcome" sign down or at least returned my money )

I love the whole "my town" mentality. It's no more "theirs/ours" then this country is. We (as a people) can't even keep illegal immigrants out of our country, so what makes us think we have an entitlement to a particular state or township?
