Are you kidding? We can't have a hot day in the summer WITHOUT someone saying "see I told you so, global warming!"

For that matter, anytime we have a lot of rain, it's global warming. If we have a drought, it's global warming. Too cold? Global warming. Too hot? Global warming. Pretty much any weather that strays from the 30-year averages is clearly due to global warming.

They now recognize that they can have their cake and eat it too. No matter if it is hot or cold it is now Climate Change.

That gets rid of those pesky events that contradict the "science" of the day; too hot or too cold.

Personally I think all the hot air on the subject, is the cause of global warming.

Must I? Really?

Thank you aquarijen! There are still natural cycles on top of it all. The solar wind is at a 15 year low. Apparently some people are unable to process multiple factors at one time. We have only had 2-3 cold winters in the past 15 years. Most of the rest have been above normal, some all time records. Please folks, do your homework.......AND FOR GOD'S SAKE TAKE GEOLOGY AND STATISTICS COURSES (no, talk radio doesn't count, sorry). I somehow knew that I wouldn't be able to post this thread...

Climate change is a fact. Global warming is a theory. I think a lot of people misunderstand this, probably because science education in this country is, overall, very poor. Attempting to refute climate change by "trash talking" (for lack of a better descriptor) global warming is very ineffective.

(Just like, and I hesitate to introduce this topic but it's a great comparison, evolution is a fact, and natural selection is a theory.)

Of course climate change is a fact. Climates have been changing since before humans even existed, and they'll continue to change no matter what we do.

I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comment about "global warming". I believe in climate change also as a fact, I just think that things get out of hand on this forum so I was trying to be funny and serious at the same time. I would encourage every one to research what Brazil has done with sugar cane as a biofuel, a much more cost effective product than corn fuel. Google it and see what comes up. We should all be responsible, unfortunately our gov't doesn't have a very good record with responsibility.

Well, all theory aside, beginning tomorrow, for the next 5 days, highs above 60 are expected.

Well, yes. But my personal opinion is that human activity is altering those changes in an unnatural way.

In Knoxville, it's been the coldest winter to date since '02-'03. Lows in Jan. '03 hit single digits three times (3, 7 & 9 degrees). The winter of '00-'01 was significantly chillier.

Winter averages to date (Dec. 21-Feb. 6) for the past nine years:

* '08-'09: mean temperature of 37; 10 days w/ an avg. temp. below 30

* '07-'08: mean 40; 5 days < 30

* '06-'07: mean 41; 4 days < 30

* '05-'06: mean 44; 1 day < 30

* '04-'05: mean 42; 6 days < 30

* '03-'04: mean 38; 10 days < 30

* '02-'03: mean 37; 12 days < 30

* '01-'02: mean 39; 5 days < 30

* '00-'01: mean 34; 12 days < 30

* 1910-2009: mean 38

As you said your opinion.

The climate is changing, is it warming? I don't see it at this point when pack ice is at 1979 levels, the avg temp has not gone up in 10 years. Over 650 scientists have now rejected global warming, but no one talks about that.
