To EVERYONE on this thread: I meant NOTHING inflamatory, or controversial or nasty with what I wrote. I just asked for simple information. I've posted numerous times in other city threads and have not encountered the kind of defensive comments back to me. All I asked was about a comparison of two cities: Knoxville and Chattanooga. I mentioned that I'm a conservative Christian, not to be criticized for that, or lectured about it, but so you had an idea of who I was as a human being if for your thoughts about which city might be better for me. That's all. I just asked for information about the two cities. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I won't write in this thread again. And I'm sorry if I offended anyone about the term "yuppie." That term is used everywhere and usually doesn't work people up into a lather. NOTHING was meant by what I wrote. Apologies all around...

Morristown, not too far outside Knoxville, would probably be what you're looking for. Check it out!

If you want to avoid "yuppies", stay away from West Knoxville (anything west of Papermill Dr., West Town Mall area), or anything near the University of Tennessee.

Some sections of Powell and Halls Crossroads have become yuppie-fied as well.

As far as the original question that asked if Knoxville is hotter in the summer than Chattanooga, the weather records say no. Knoxville's July daily temps average 2º lower than Chattanooga's July averages. The average max highs for July in Knoxville are 3º lower than Chattanooga. So, it appears that Knoxville is a little more comfortable in the summer months that Chattanooga.
