Northeast of Knoxville, pretty small. Haven't been there in a while so I can't tell you much more.

40 minutes out, and town is small, and not much there, and yes , fishing is great on Norris, which is probably the cleanest and best lake around.

There are some great new gated communities going up on the Maynardville side of Norris. I toured a new clubhouse in Vista Shores last week...private boat slips, year-round deep water harbor, lots up to 3 acres

Homes aren't quite as nice in town, though.

hahahaha I've heard that its better than Lake City though. My ex did her teaching internship there and she said that it fulfills most all Southern Appalachian stereotypes...

I concur. Very, very country and backwards in some (most?) pockets. I worked very closely for 5 years with a gal from there. She made the commute everyday into Knoxville. She was a sweetie and would talk about how the differences herself. Oh, it is one of those towns where everyone knows everyone's business, according to her.

I would add it's about 15 minutes from Halls.

Probably 40 from W. Knox.

Listen to Kenny Chesney's song "That's Where I Come From" and it describes Maynardville fairly well.

Is that actually from where he comes? I know he "claims" Knoxville.
