Especially gray cars that blend in with rain or fog.

In Knox County we could always have Lumpy shoot out their tires! On second thought, I wonder what kind of shot he is...

rotflol, hik. That got me to laughing. But yeah, he'd probably accidentally shoot the driver themself!
He'd LOVE the job, though! Right in the thick of things!

As long as they are not TOO exciting. When he was confronted with a real live crazy guy with a loaded gun he ran the other way!

But I still think it's pretty funny that he managed to be there, at all.

Kingsport PD put out a video...
The Kingsport PD had put out a video on local TV channel describing what WAS and WAS NOT considered a violation. It showed an actual police car going through an intersection and gave different scenarios.
You might be able to find it on youtube or on the net somewhere.
It was interesting.
Basically if the light is yellow when you go through, no ticket.
There are sensors in the road that relay info to the camera and it is also calculating your speed as you pass through.
If the light is red when you go through, you get a ticket...even if only your front tires cross over the white line/sensor in front of you. (I am pretty sure).
We have 2 of them in Colonial Heights and others around Kingsport.
If you run red lights, you should get a ticket. It could be me or my child you kill next time. I am not trying to be mean but I get tired of people (my relatives included) feeling somehow cheated when they get a ticket or violation.
As far as court goes, just pay it. Trust me. Court costs will cost you way more than paying the ticket.

Well darn, no wonder people have so many different views on this. Look what I found when I was looking for the video.
Kingsport Police Department, Traffic Tips
"
Tip#1 A yellow light is not an invitation to speed up.
A yellow light means STOP. (???) You’re only allowed to drive through a yellow light if you are already in the intersection or so close to the intersection that stopping would be hazardous. The yellow light is not an indication for a driver to speed up in an attempt to beat the red light. Go for the brakes, not the accelerator. (???)
Tennessee Law TCA – 55-8-110"
The video sort of contradicts that, as it specifically points out that it's not a violation to enter the intersection on yellow.
Asterpix Interactive Video - Kingsport's Redlight Explained
So do you go for it not when the light turns yellow?
I was taught to clear the intersection on yellow, not enter it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Me, too. I try not to enter on yellow. The only time I will go is if I have to quickly stop and I have some yahoo on my butt or road conditions are not good.

That is what I do.

I only go through a yellow if I am so close that stopping would put me out in the middle of the intersection.
We had a lady try to stop when she was too far gone into the intersection. We had stopped behind her. She should have just gone on through during yellow light. Well, she put it in reverse and backed up. Right into our VAN !
Guess who got the ticket ? Nobody. The lady LIED and said that we rear-ended her !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cop said he could not determine what happened since we had conflicting stories so nobody got a ticket. Which, I guess it could have been worse and we could have ended up with a ticket, but talk about being FURIOUS. She lied to our face and the cops face. Her insurance paid NOTHING for our repairs.
Unfortunately, we did not have a witness who stopped to vouch for us. Even my 5yo was saying "SHE HIT US !!!" but the cop would not listen.
(Sorry for that little side-ramble.....)
If the light is yellow and you are going too fast to stop, or you are already under the light keep going.....don't do the stop in the middle and back up thing. Please ?
If I am a ways back and I see it turn yellow, I stop.
