Insurance Career Opportunities
Hi All,
I have been reading all of your posts for a while now and have learned so much from all of you about the area, thank you!
My family and I are planning to relocate from Southern California to the Knoxville or Maryville area this summer. I am an account manager for an insurance agency specializing in commercial insurance. I have been sending my resume out to many different insurance agencies in the Knoxville area with no success so far. I know the job market everywhere is bad right now, but I am wondering if the fact that I am still here in California is causing the personnel managers to be a bit leery in considering me? Maybe I will have better luck once I make the move, and can show that I am serious in relocating? Any suggestions or input would be much appreciated, thanks!

We have been having employment issues in our family, too. Every week, we get the Sunday paper. We were appalled at how thin it was this week. I've never seen like this.
The "Help Wanted" section is less than a weekday edition. Less.
And to add to the terror, there are about a third of the pull-out ads.
At this point, I'd say it's not you.

Insurance? Oh yeah, that's right. Isn't that where you take peoples' $$ up front and make substantive future promises based on actuarial tables that have never withstood the time line of human history?
By George, I think I've got it. The illegal version is called a Ponzi Scheme...and the legal version is called life insurance.

Not quite sure why we're bashing a man's line of work on here....Sounds like you've had a bad run in with a bad life insurance policy. But the OP stated he was in commercial insurance, I assume property, liablity, or workman's comp. All very necessary and much appreciated when needed.
lovetenn, not sure about the current market here, but best of luck with your search. You may want to seek out Oldmanbob on here, he was in the Knoxville insurance market for 37 years, he may have some insight or contacts for you.
