Default Info on Maryville.... anyone on here live there?

Hi.. my dad is from Maryville and lived there until about 1974. I was last there two years ago on business, but drove straight through and didnt get to look around. How much has the place grown up since the mid 70s? He worked at a restaurant called "Dubs"? when he was a teenager before they moved up here to northeast Tennessee. I think it was still there the last time I was there and looked around some, but that was a few years ago. Any good photos of the area on any of these forums?

Thanks a bundle.

Maryville has grown by leaps and bounds since the 70's! Dub's is still there and still run by the same guy. His sister used to work for me and their Mom is from England. That family has a lot of great stories. There is a brand new car wash behind it now. The middle and high schools are still in the same place and still in use. There is a new city hall that is absolutely gorgeous. Downtown has changed a lot and it still growing. The Blount County library is a sight to behold. There is a shop in the old library building. Kay's Ice Cream closed and there is an upscale bakery there now.

There are some great photos of Maryville on here. Try using Advanced Search. Have fun.

Thanks for that info!

As I drove through there a couple of years ago, I thought it looked like alot of newer buildings. I am sure I didnt even cover a 1/5th of the city.

Cool beans that Dubs is still open and ran by the same guy since way back. I am not sure how many years my dad worked there, but he was very young. They lived there when the tornado came through... it came through their neighborhood. He took me by there about 9 years ago. I think it was around 1972 when the twister went through. Do you know for sure?

I will do a search for those photos! Thanks again!

I don't know about the twister. At that time I was in first grade in Kingsport sitting next to Suzanne Golden (we're reconnected on Facebook now and she has three little darlings of her own! lol).

The Dubs man is approaching 70 I would say (guess). He has no retirement plans.
