Default Question about areas of Knoxville

Hello! My husband, daughter and I are possibly moving to Knoxville in a few months. My husband has an opportunity to transfer with his company and we want to do some research on the area before deciding what is best for our family. He would be working with G&K Services, which is located on Yellow Pine Lane and the zip code is 37932. Could you suggest what areas are close (no more than about 25 minutes away - not counting rush hour traffic as he has to be at work much earlier and it won't be an issue)?

We would like to live in more of a family oriented area, we live in downtown Ft. Myers, FL in a highrise condo right now and hate it. I would like to be within about 15-20 minutes of grocery stores, parks, shopping. Also, we are wanting to rent first as we have no knowledge of the area and want to get familiar with Knoxville before deciding where to buy. We are willing to spend about $1000/mo. in rent.

I know this question gets asked all the time, but I have been searching back through threads and haven't really figured out where would be a good place to start looking. Any help would be appreciated. We also do not want to rent an apartment. Do you know of any good websites to look at houses for rent in Knoxville? I have tried Remax, Rent.com, and ForRent.com.

Thank you very much!

Realtor.com can show what homes are for rent and listed in the MLS.

We are from Fort Myers, too. I hate that area with a passion!I am quite sure that you will love it here!

The entire area is family orientated and coming from Fort Myers it will be a true breath of fresh air! Craigslist has lots of rentals in your price range. Where he is working is considered one of the pricier areas but you will find rentals in your range. Schools in that area are excellent. Because of the fabulous location, once you are settled start to look around for a house. The tax credit and the prices of homes, especially in that area, are in your favor!

Congrats! You are truly lucky to be able to move here with a job! You will NOT regret it!!!!!!

For areas to look in, try West Hills. A 1960s suburb with sprawling ranchers on big lots. Walking distance to schools, a huge YMCA, several parks, big churches and a quick drive to West Town Mall, restaurants, I-40, etc.
Zip code is 37909. MLS #650059 is fairly typical of the type of houses you'll find there. It's relatively flat for Knoxville.
