We're moving from our condo to our new house just 2 miles away. We can't do U-Haul because we have no one to help us move (by "us", I mean my husband). Does anyone recommend a local mover that is reliable, safe, and will not overcharge us?

I've always used Two Men and a Truck. I wouldn't trust them with priceless heirloom china, but they're certainly good at moving big things quickly. Besides moving all my earthly belongings four times, I've had them move two pianos on three different occasions, they were always wonderful.

I believe you can even hire them to load/unload your U-Haul, I'm not sure.

You can use Movinghelp to get people to load and unload the truck.

They're associated with Uhaul and I think local uhaul places can set it up.
For boxes, go to Dixie Box Company. Better and a lot cheaper than Uhaul.

As jmt says, 2 men and a truck are great, and can give you an estimate, and I also have used them, and no complaints. I have also used the Morretz brothers, and also liked them. Good luck and get it done safely.

The best place for boxes is Wal-Mart at 1AM... no charge and they're happy to get the empty shipping boxes out of their way.
