Seymour is not really a town but is an unincorporated area where Sevier, Blount, and Knox counties meet. It's mainly in Sevier County. It's at the intersection of US 441 and US 411--US 441 being the old highway that people used to take to the mountains before I-40 opened.
Right now about the only restaurants in Seymour are a slew of fast-food chains. It's a growing area with a fairly high income level, so I would think that Seymour would be a great place to open a mom-and-pop restaurant with good comfort food.
Good luck!

That sounds wonderful, thank you for the insite.. I will check into the pages you sent.. I am making a move in the next month and starting my research on things and that area, sounds like it would be a great place.. I don't want to be a "Chain" kind of place.. Kind of like Gordon Ramsey meets Mel's Diner.. LOL

Seymour would be a great place. We were visiting our property near by and drove into Seymour to find a bite to eat. All we could find was fast food, which we don't really like. A mom and pop restaurant would be a nice treat in the area.

You'd become rich in Dunlap! Dunlap is so diner poor its terrible. No place like that around anymore. There were two of them but they both retired years ago. Another thing is that Dunlap is on hwy 127 and when the Worlds Longest Yard Sale hits, you'd make enough money in those 5 days to last you a year.

HMM I haven't thought about Dunlap, I will have to look into it. If my memory is right, I haven't been through that area in a very long time. Since I was a kid. But I will have to look into it some more. The most important thing about opening this up is the location. I would like to make it a place where people know where we are, easy to get to and if I am lucky, people will pass it along the roads to one of the tourist places.
I am not a big tourist kind of a person, but living in Florida has given me an understanding that you need that sometimes to survive. LOL But our goal is to focus on the local love that will be shared and have the families to come in, the people come in and sit and drink 5 cent coffee and just share.
I don't maybe I am crazy here, I just want something small, but really good at the same time.
I know my grass roots and where I came from. So I want to give back. We even have some simple events that we are working out the details, like free dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas for anyone who wants it, just show up. And maybe even a "bring in the summer hog roast". Something simple to share and give back.
So any feed back is always a great thing. I hope to hear more. There is so many great ideas that are coming in.
Thank you all so very much

Not to be negative about Dunlap, but it is so small that it might not be able to support what the op has in mind.

First of all, Dunlap is a couple hours away from Knoxville. It's only going to get the yard sale traffic that is held five days a year and the locals. There are hardly any tourists that go through there. Not enough to live on, anyway,
Seymour is a great idea. If not, Sevierville. LOTS of tourists there.
It sounds like a great thing, really. We had a diner-type place in Fountain City but they recently left to make room for the new Kroger. Fountain City could really use a local meeting place. I promise I will go!

WOW lots of great ideas to go and check out. There are many things I need to get into place, first of all I am making the move there in less than a month, then I must look at the wonderful places that y'all have suggested. And then I need to get some help with a business type loan. I know I am not going to be able to do this on my own. So the points that have been given are great, I am really excited about getting this up and going. Right now, I am a little peon cashier at a shoping store, so the transfer for that is in place. But the bigger picture is what I am focused on. I really can not wait to get this going, I hope to have it going in less than a year. Maybe sooner if I can get some $$ backing to help along the way.
Soooooooooo.... if anyone knows of someone or a place that likes to help startup businesses that would be a great place to start.
Peace
