I work in home healthcare as a Physical Therapist Assistant. What areas in/around Knoxville have the greatest concentrations of folks who are retired/Medicare recipients? Any large retirement communities in the area?

I strongly suggest you look up census data on area counties (Knox, Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Blount, Loudon, Roane, etc.).

You'll notice that the outlying counties (ex. Blount, Roane) have quite large aging populations and a number of PT and other care centers. Maryville area in Blount is popular with retirees; Tellico village is also a popular retirement community in Blount. Roane county attracts retirees to lake houses. Oak Ridge area (Anderson County) also has a substantial aging population.

You're in a good field for the area. Demand is pretty steady for PTs + assistants.

Cumberland County (Crossville) has Tennessee's oldest population.

But in the immediate Knoxville area, the previous poster nailed it with Tellico Village (popular retirement community) and Oak Ridge (aging population).

Hey Jbuck, like jmt says, Tellico Village has probably the most active retired folks in our area, and then only some 1 hour or so down 40 west, is Fairfield Glades, and I have in-laws there, and have visited often, and even been in their chuch, and that would top every place I could think of. So you need to check out Fairfield Glade.

Are these places close into the city itself? Are they near parks, libraries and shopping and all?

yes they are, Fairfield Glade is 15 minutes from Cossville, Tellico Village is 10 minutes from Lenior City and Loudon, or some 20 minutes from Vonore , then another 10 to Madisonville. All have some sort of shopping centers, and usually have some stores on site.
