We're so impressed with the huge medical facility in Blount County, some Baptist Hospital I think, and the view of the smokies all around is just amazing! I'm a temperate weather kinda girl, so mild winters suit me just fine.
So, what do most people do as a hobby or past time in Maryville aside from hiking the mountains and trails? Do Arts/Crafts such as scrapbooking, quilting, painting, scultpuring, pottery, stained glass, etc have a huge following in Maryville or Knoxville?

Sorry, I just now saw this.
Yes, there is a following for hiking, arts and crafts ~ especially in Gatlinburg!, there is stained glass and some pottery and quilting and lots of stay at home mom types do scrapbooking. A lot of activities surround churches/places of worship and UT activities. And, of course, a lot of activities surround children. With my last graduating this year I dread not seeing the other parents at school events.
The hospital you saw in Maryville was Blount Memorial. It is a large, community hospital that stands alone. There is a sense of community pride in the hospital; however, I do not take my family or myself there and prefer the medical care in Knoxville. Fortunately, Knoxville medical care is only 15-20 min away!
March in this area has the trees just starting to barely bud and usually a last big cold front coming through. Your husband is Hostage-IL correct? See you two here visiting in the Spring!

SMG, I really appreciate your input. I believe it would take us a few more trips to M'ville to get a better perspective of the place. So far, we are impressed.

I love the cute little parks, and the great library Maryville has that is an awesome asset to a city. Looks like the downtown is really getting a facelift.
It is so hard to visit a place and see all the great aspects of it, and then live there and find out it is noisy, and congested, crowded......But, I guess that is part of relocation, u never know what is around the corner do you?
Hoping someone that lives there daily will see this to answer the traffic and airport questions.....But if not I appreciate all the help u have given me JMT, that was sweet!

traffic will depend on where in Maryville you are. The city portion of Maryville waill ahve heavier traffic in the morning and evening. I live out of the city along Sevierville Road and see more traffric on weekends as well as mornimg and evening. The other question is traffice compared to what? the traffic I see in maryville is less than the traffic I deal with coming home from Knoxville. I am selling my home and can fill in details if you would like to know more. regardless if you give me information about how much traffic you have enoucntered I can comapre it.
I personally love Maryville, great parks, small town feel, low crime rate. Granted you do have to drive further if you want certain amenities, and the school system while good is still a small system overall. I was raised in North Knoxville, have been all over the city and would rather live in the Maryville/Townsend are above any other in the region.

Blount Memorial
Dear TNboundRN:
My husband was very sick the last few years of his life, and he had many visits there. Our experiences there were good - we found them to be a great facility as long as the problem wasn't too complicated, and then we took him to UT. I have had a couple of friends diagnosed with cancer, and the new cancer center has gotten rave reviews from them.
I don't know what it's like to work there, but we had no complaints as clients/patients.
Does this help?

Much thanks!

Have you tried looking up Knoxville News Sentinel on-line they have more jobs available then the Maryville paper. Also, you can signed up on line with Daily news Maryville paper and they will alert you with jobs that are available that you are interested in. Hope this helps you. TennSr
