Publix ice cream two for $5 this week. Moose tracks chocolate sure looks yummy on the ad.

No thanks. We LOVE Mayfield chocolate moose tracks. In fact we love Mayfield ice cream. For the life of me I can't figure out why the don't have chocolate chip chunk. And I don't see any other brand that carries it, either. I guess I should start an e-mail campaign to Mayfield!

I know Mayfield's is the local brand, but for my money, there isn't a better brand of ice cream made than Blue Bell. I remember when they only sold it in Texas and I would eat tons of it when I visited relatives there each year. I'm sure glad they sell it here now. I know it's a bit more expensive, but it's worth every penny. (especially the Homemade Vanilla flavor. That's got to be the best ice cream on the planet. Oh, and the Banana Pudding flavor too ). Nothing against Mayfields, but they can't touch Blue Bell. Anyway, I'm off topic. But I have tried Publix's store brand ice cream before too and it was ok but nothing special (about like most store brands).

Blue Bell and Bryer's are my two favorites that are available locally. (My least favorite would be Kay's. Yuck, that stuff is awful).

I honestly don't know what the big deal is about Blue Bell. I've tried it several times and each time had a "meh" reaction. It's not bad, but I felt it was definitely not worth the hype.

Mayfield ROCKS.

For store brands, Publix is exceptional. But I do think Mayfield is at least as good although when I lived in Atlanta and shopped at Publix I'd usually buy Publix brand because it was cheaper than Mayfield.

Try Earth Fare's Peach Ice Cream. Incredible. Really does taste like what my dad used to make in the hand churn.
Earth Fare also carries Aldens, which has a killer chocolate and a boysenberry.
