They were thinking that some guy or gal told them that the price was a steal, the lots were being snatched up and they would be worth much more in a couple of years.

Rarity also had to half the price of a lot at Tennessee National a few months back.

Personally, I think this is a case of people from other states only looking at the price, comparing it to that other state and thinking "I could never get that much land for that price here!" and buying it without a look around at what land sells for in TN and in neighboring areas to this land.
Wasn't Rarity one of those "We'll fly you in, buy you a steak dinner and pay for your hotel just for coming to take a look at this land" and only advertised in other state properties?
