On June 14 we had a wonderful campsite at Elkmont, right next to the Little River. Just after sunset, we walked up the hill to watch the synchronous fireflies and they put on another terrific show, just like last year.

Got up early in the morning the next day and went for a long walk on the Little River Trail:

After breaking camp, we took a leisurely drive on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail just outside Gatlinburg. With their eyes glued to the road, we watched as most other visitors drove right by this roadside waterfall without even glancing at it:

I just drove the Roaring Fork motor trail the first time a few weeks ago. We went in the evening, a small crowd was parked at the trail head to one of the water falls (the name escapes me) to watch the fireflys there... much less crowded, plus, on the way up my g/f saw a bear for the first time! Pretty healthy too, maybe 500 lbs...

Great pics!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos. I grew up near the Smokies and spent lots of time there in my earlier years.
