Default Question about Selma Ave

I was just looking on a website at a house on Selma Ave. Can anyone tell me about the area? What part of Knoxville is it in and is it a safe area? Thanks.

I see a couple of houses for sale on Selma. No, I would not live there. That is just my opinion.

Where do you think the safest and best place is the look in Knoxville for a home under $100?

I agree with hiknapster, Selma Avenue is in a questionable area. There's probably not a whole lot of crime around there compared to cities like Atlanta or Memphis, but for Knoxville's it's considered crime central.

How large of a house are you looking for?

You can buy homes in my neighborhood for less than $100k. It's the Whittle Springs area which is NE Knoxville around Whittle Springs golf course. The homes are small but inexpensive. Even though there's a beautiful golf course here, it's pretty much a blue-collar neighborhood with framed houses built right after WW2. I love it here.

Also check out the Oakwood-Lincoln Park neighborhood which is across Broadway from my neighborhood. It's at the foot of Sharp's Ridge. The homes there are similar to the ones in my neighborhood: framed houses built mainly in the 1940s-50s. I have friends in that neighborhood who love it there, too.

You can easily find homes in both of these areas for less than $100k, particularly if you can get by with just one bathroom.

We don't want a big house, about 1500 sq feet would nice, but we could make do with less but two bathrooms is a must.
