I made the daily drive from New Market to Morristown in less than 30 minutes for over three years. I guess it depends on the part of New Market you're in and the part of Morristown you're headed too. Jefferson City is a college town and as such is inundated with college students. Dandridge can have elevated prices due to the lake. You can also look at Talbott between Morristown and Jefferson, rural but a quick drive to everything.

One could presume that the social environment around Jeff City is a less traditional definition of "college town." Not saying everyone who goes to C-N are angels or anything, but it's not going to be a little Chapel Hill or Durham.

Voldude- true, my comment was directed to the fact that there are college kids everywhere. So expect to be in line behind giggling coeds at Walmart, etc. And watch out during Centerfuge in the summer- those kids can and will step off the curb in front of your car.

It's in the Asheville Highway area of East Knoxville, north of I-40. It would still take you at least 45 minutes to get to work. Probably closer to a hour.

My post wasn't directed at you. Just pointing out that the college crowd out there isn't the same as in Knoxville, which mattbward seemed to enjoy pretty well.

Aha, thanks for the clarification. Definitely NOT the Knoxville college crowd, that's for sure. :0)

I didn't end up going with Jeff City. Found a wonderful mountain cabin I couldn't pass up south of Douglas Lake.
