Smile East Knoxville

I have posted several times on here, so not to reiterate my situation, but for those that haven't read those posts...

I will be moving to Eastern Tennessee in the next month or two for my job. I will be working 5 days a week in Morristown, Tennessee. My wife and I love Knoxville, especially downtown, but I do not want to commute much more then 40 minutes to work and back.

I have started looking at East Knoxville as an option for us to live. I would like a safe neighborhood with some bike/running trails if possible. What are the main neighborhoods in East Knoxville that are relatively safe besidese Strawberry Plains?

I have visited Dandridge and like it, but want to get some feedback from folks about the Eastern part of Knoxville that is more convenient to 40 and quicker for me to get to Morristown.

Hiknapster, care to go first?

Also, I LOVE to fish, so which lake has better fishing between Cherokee and Douglas? OR where else in Eastern TN is THE place to fish (where you can eat it, in other words, not too polluted to eat the fish you catch).

Thanks all!

Check out the Holston Hills neighborhood. It's just off Asheville Hwy near I-40. It's an older neighborhood built around a golf course where the UT golf team plays. It's got huge fancy homes as well as small bungalows.

As jmt says, Holston Hills is great, and your drive time, will be about the 40 minutes you wanted. All types of homes, some remodeled, and some are in great shape, and some need some tlc. Good luck, and what part of Morristown, will you be working. Travel there lots, as is my home town, and have some buisness dealings there with my family, but have lived in K-town for years.

Holston Hills is a good recommendation. I always guessed that you would end up in that area. If you're gonna eat, I'd go with Norris. Clean and cold.

It's probably going to take you a LITTLE more than 40 minutes, but that really depends on where you are living and working. Probably somewhere between 45 minutes and one hour. It depends.

Holston is really nice. You're going to find rental homes, as opposed to buildings, I would think. The prices won't be cheap though, although you could get lucky. Lots of people involved with running the city live there. It is a very old, fairly upscale neighborhood that has a golf course and borders our so-called "ghetto." Not much of a ghetto, though, in comparison to other places, and of course, that is a good thing.

Anything further East? That place sounds nice but too much distance.

I'd stick with Dandrige. It's nice. You like it. It puts you about half-way in between. Right near the water and The Smokys.

From the looks of the map it seems kinda sparse between knoxville and morristown. Maybe Dandridge is the place for us geographically.

I really loved how the mountains look coming from 40 into Dandridge (down 92 I believe)

cwaticndo is on a distinguished road
Dandridge is a nice quiet little town...also consider Kodak/Sevierville (Sevier County) around Hwy. 66...you would be close to Douglas Dam and have the benifits of the interstate to get to Knoxville and Morristown.
