Last night we drove out Oak Grove Rd in Madisonville toward Tellico Village and there were several properties for sale that would definitely get you out of the city atmosphere and have garden space.

My husband liked the Madisonville area. I don't know where the Oak Grove area is though. Heck it all looks the same to me....ALL GOOD! We'll be making another trip this Fall to look some more in some more areas. Hopefully we can nail down an area and then start looking at homes. It's really hard to get all this to come together when we have a house to sell here and I'm still working and move to an area where we are unfamiliar and have no idea where I can work. I am a licensed dental hygienist and have to get my license in TN first before I can work there. Not too hard to do, but not like just applying somewhere and going to work either.

Hi LLuce,
I have yet another suggestion for you to explore. I know there are a lot of great little towns/areas in east TN! hahahhaha
Have you thought about the Tri-Cities area? There is a huge VA hospital/facility here, we are close to the Smokey's, great views of them about every where you go. Lots of places to ride the bikes, check out Roan Mountain area for that and Hwy 19 plus the Blue Ridge of course.
Not sure about dental specifically, but it seems like anything in the medical field right now has positions available.
You mentioned your husband likes the little town squares, we have several towns with them such as: Jonesborough, Kingsport, Elizabethton, Blountville, Bristol and JC.
Just a thought and another avenue for you to look into.

The Oak Grove area can be reached by going toward Hiwassee College and turning left toward the Monroe County Board of Ed office.
Eat at Donna's at the stoplight and ask for directions. I am also told a really great sub-sandwich can be had at Henry's.

It's not totally out of the question but I think, at least for now, we don't want to go that far north. My husband is a retired truckdriver and he said the Kingsport area is nice, (at least what he could see from a truck) but our friends are in Knoxville and we'd like to be near to them to be able to do more with them.

I think we had been out there in that area, I remember the name "Hiwassee" when that couple we met was driving us all over! LOL! My husband remembers it more than me and he said it was nice out there.

Have you thought about Spring City, TN near Watts Bar Lake. Spring City is about as safe as any town can be I think. My husband and I moved here 10 years ago. It's a straight shot and not very far to the Cherahala (sp?) Parkway & Tellico area. It is about halfway between Chattanooga and Knoxville.
Also, my husband I take his brother to the VA Clinic in Chattanooga often, and the VA hospital is in Nashville which is not a bad drive via Crossville to I-40.
My Dad has a rather small but quaint home there ready to rent but may consider selling it if someone is interested. It is situated in a private community on Watts Bar Lake but the house itself does not sit directly on the water. It is a short walk to the private community park and boat ramp. He bought it and completely renovated it. On one side is a vacant wooded lot with lots of mature trees as well as throughout the subdivision. I believe the lot is a bit larger than an acre (2 lots combined). The subdivision ends on the penninsula so there is no thru traffic - a quiet place to live. The back yard is very large and surrounded by a tall privacy fence. The house has 3 bdrms and 2 full baths (1 with tub/shower & 1 with a sit-down shower), a large walk-in closet, wrap around deck (3 sides), mud room on back, porch swing, and everything in the house is new including the HVAC unit... There is very little traffic.

No, we hadn't looked that far out. I had to get the map out and see where you were talking about! We're not ready to rent or buy anything just yet. Do you live in Spring City too then? Where did you move from?
