My family and I are planning on moving to the Knoxville area. We really want to move to Maryville, but my husband has had an interview with a company in Oak Ridge and if that works out, I think the commute will be too long for him. Because we love a church there in Maryville and the church has a school we would like our kids to attend, we are thinking we could live in between the two cities. From what I could tell that would put us about 20 minutes to Oak Ridge and 20 minutes to Maryville. What suggestions do you have on a great area in between and would that put us too far from shopping, restaurants, etc...

That pretty much puts you in Farragut. Can't beat that!

All the areas around Farragut are nice, too!

Lots and lots and lots of shopping and restaurants.

There's Turkey Creek, which is incredible, and lots more than that, too.

Yep, west Knoxville/Farragut is halfway between the two on the parkway and has more amenities than either Oak Ridge or Maryville. Look into Farragut, Bluegrass, Northshore, and even Louisville and Hardin Valley (if you want a slightly more rural vibe). I need a price range for a home to better steer you. Farragut and Northshore get pricier, while Bluegrass is more affordable. All three have good proximity to parks and lakes.

It really depends where in Oak Ridge the company is located. Oak Ridge is very large area-wise. It takes me 20 minutes just to get out of Oak Ridge if I'm heading west on 95/58 from where I live and there are parts of Oak Ridge even further east than I am..
