I will post an update when I return. Inquiring minds want to know.

Leonard I'm not sure what we want. No, I take that back. We do know pretty much, but just don't know *where*. We're going to look outside of Maryville and then around Seymour this weekend. We don't want to be in a subdivision stacked on top of each other. We don't want to be *in* town. Just county taxes please.... We don't want to be too far out of a town though. Run to get a pizza, run to rent a movie, etc. We want a clear view of something worth looking at each day...mountain, trees, pasture or all of the above. I've seen houses that interest us on the realtor sites but sometimes my eyeballs get bigger than my wallet ya know...or they're located to rural for us or in a cleared off cookie cutter subdivision. I guess we'll just know when we see it. I have a couple we're gonna do a "drive by" just out of curiosity. We still have a little time so I imagine we'll make a couple more trips down.

You can pick up good maps at the Blount County Chamber of commerce. They even have the outlying areas (and sub-divisions) listed. Also, you might want to look in the Rockford/Wildwood area along 411 north between Maryville and Seymour. My wife and I bought there a year ago and love it. It has a mix of small subdivisions and more country. Walland is very nice too. By the way those are sub-areas 283 and 284 on the IDX website you said you've been using. Boyds Creek is over in Sevier county but also pretty rural and very pretty. One more thing to consider is renting until you really find where you want to buy. It took my wife and I a lot of driving around to find the right place. Best of luck to you.

on the maps! We will check out the Rockford Wildwood area on our way to Seymour. Good suggestion. Thank you. If we can't pin point an area that we'd like, we may have to rent. I hate the thought of renting, we have a couple of small dogs and landlords sometimes aren't crazy about renting to people with pets. And I'd really like to spend my money on my own property rather than someone elses, however we may have to rent until we find the perfection location.

I've found that there are a lot of dog-friendly rentals in the area. Small dogs, in particular, are accepted. Either way, I'm sure that it will all work out.
