The bills here are like anywhere else, high! lol. Blount County has one of the best Boys and Girls Clubs in the state. I and a lot of friends that i ride with do a lot of fund raising for the Blount Co Boys and Girls Clubs. Dixie Iron Riders, Smoky Mountain Harley rev up for Boys and Girls Club : News : Blount Today We are actually planning a state wide benefit ride for the Boys and Girls Clubs. The Boy Scouts are pretty big here in the area as well. The BS came to my sons school trying to recruit members. The church scene here... there's one on every corner. I'm going to brag a little if i may, i've lived in BC all my life, i've been to just about every church in BC...almost. However I have not found a church like BCC (Blount Community Church) Blount Community Church, Maryville TN - Home I would encourage you to come and listen to Jeff or Kenny and find out for yourself what it's like. I truely feel blessed to be a part of the membership.
Our parks and Rec is very good also they have activities year round for all ages.

Actually, our bills are lower than many states. My mother's Mass. electric bill in winter runs her $700 to 900. My Knoxville bill in winter is about $150 to $250.

I am checking out the Blount community Church website right now. Anyone know if the Boys & Girsl Club picks the kids up at school? I am delighted there is an appreciation day for the emergency services! Thats great!

Just let people know you're available Folks are always happy to do some matchmaking and you'll meet people at church and kid events.
Fishing and hunting are part of life here and the state has some excellent information online:
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
Let people know you want to hunt and fish and you'll have plenty of opportunities. Just be open to invitations and be willing to chat and you'll be fine.

No. Not like they do over in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
I remember you being on this forum from a long time ago. Even then, you were trying to get into a department and bring up your boy around here. I really, really hope you get this job!

Ive been trying to get there for a long time. I got hired on a department here in 06 so it has been a catch 22 since then. Do I stay in the career I love and a place I hate or move where I want to be and take the chance of getting into a department again. I am scared to move though but I REALLY need it. Its kinda like an abusive relationship. You stay cause it is all you know and it feels comfortable.

I really, really understand. I was in the same area up north for 34 years and then I moved to Florida. That was a huge mistake and it took 10 years to get out. Moving to Knoxville was the best thing that I ever did. By the way, my husband is from Chicago. I think that is where you are from.
I always wanted to be a cop; a detective, really. The cops around here are the absolute best.
I think you will be happy and this is a fabulous place to raise a child.
