Ha! Your a hoot! I like the way you think! But I understand what you mean. I would find it hard to knock on a door just to find out what kind of folks they are. Because some people can present themselves pretty well and be total @sses in actuality. But it's worth a shot, even just to find out more about the house that they would be willing to spill their guts on.

LOL....alright, personally I wouldn't worry to much about that but what would you say ? "hi, I'm checking you out to make sure your not a jerk before I move here " well, maybe that wouldn't exactly get me a pie for a "welcome to the neighbor" gift

I don't have the kids to drag along but I have a couple of miniature dachshunds...do they count?? TN folks don't like dogs? I like dogs.....as long as the owners make them behave.

Default Every

place I've lived in TN the neighbors have been great, only one didn't like dogs or kids. Umm, come to think of it, he didn't like people in general.

In fact, last year my neighbor and I were talking about critters and I told him I'd wanted to get peacocks but out of courtesy to the neighbors I didn't. He said "if you want peacocks, you just get some peacocks. We don't care."

I think you ought to bring the whole shebang, dogs, kids, wife, aunts, uncles, cousins... if the neighbors are cool about that, then they'll be great to have as neighbors.

This is Knoxville. If anything, you need to set aside a good block of time to talk. You have to do this when going to the store. Allow yourself extra time.
