Winterfest in Pigeon Forge
Hubby and I thought that while we're there next weekend that we might spend a night in Pigeon Forge and see the Winterfest lights etc. Since we've never been to Pigeon Forge, what better time to see it huh? I was just wondering about that Trolley that tours you around to see all the lights or whatever......was wondering if it's worth the ride or if it's something a person can ride around and see themselves. Some trolley tours we've been on in other areas wasn't worth the effort to even get on the darned thing. Also, what place to eat that is notorious for good eating? Anything definitely not to miss seeing or doing? Are the shops etc open at night?

Here are a couple of links for you to peruse. I don't know a lot about the hours for the stores, sorry. I like The Peddler in Gatlinburg for a nice meal and on the strip I like The Flying Horse.
Pigeon Forge, TN - Winterfest
WinterFest Guide - Pigeon Forge Winterfest (my favorite of the two)

Thanks Beretta someone else had given me the first link some time ago and I've been perusing it. I'll poke around on the other one too. And thanks for the recommendations of favorite places to eat.

I'll add my vote for The Flying Horse as well. Haven't yet tried the Peddler.

The Apple Barn
is a really nice restaurant, excellent food, nice atmosphere, has wonderful gift shops and a winery. But be sure to go to the older portion - the house. You might be fortunate and be seated near a crackling fire. It's become a little more "touristy" but still a really nice place. It' right on the edge of Pigeon Forge/Sevierville - nearly anyone should able to direct you to it.

To eat I'd say The Alamo for great steaks. Mel's Diner is also fun for breakfast and lunch.
Don't know much about the trolly tour for the lights. But I'm sure you could drive around and see the lights for yourselves. The outlet malls are great as are all the little shops. In PF you can most definitely shop till you drop!

Some trolleys don't go the whole distance of town. The go around certain parts.
If there isn't alot of people on the streets you could just drive. Sometimes in the summer months you do the trolley to get away from all the craziness of driving bumper to bumper through town.
Lots to see. You will love it. Take a trip alittle farther to see Gatlinburg only a few miles in the mountain just past Pigeon Forge.

I do like the Apple Barn also. It has gotten so touristy that it is a hassle to go eat there during the major tourist months so now would be perfect. It is major delicious!

The best steakhouse ever is Longhorn in PF. Get the garlic parmesan crust on your cut, you won't be sorry! I miss Longhorn... they say they're the taste of the west, but the farthest west they go is Oklahoma City.
Wonder if a one family petition is enough to get 'em to move in?

Pottery House Cafe at light #7 (PF) across from Old Mill restaurant. Diverse menu with lots of their own creations, absolutely delicious food, with the prettiest outdoor patio you've ever seen. Ice cream shop next door, also pottery store, artsy jewelry, candy shop and toy store. Lots of antique & gift shops there too.
Some places like Happy Days diner are made eye-catching but the food is just average. If you're ice cream lovers, try Kilwin's.
