Yeah but not this long. Its usually broken up into several spells with 50's in between.

30's here in Miami this morning and expected to drop in the high 20's this weekend. Anyone see the Orange Bowl game last night? The fans all bundled up. Looked like the game was being played in the Northeast.

Global warming? LOL
What a hoax!

I find it hard to believe that it will be in the 20's in Miami. The frost line runs through southern Lake Okeechobee. Record lows for the area are usually in the upper 30's. Can you post a link for me? And I really don't feel like this is an appropriate place for yet another argument about global warming. My advice? Go back to college and enroll in an introductory university statistics class. One or two below average winters do not negate 8 above average winters...

Kitties, it has been mentioned on our local news even about Miami getting freeze warnings. It won't be the first time either. Just check the weather for Miami FL.
And I believe the global warming comment was just a joke. It's ok.

I thought it was really cold last year, too. But it didn't last very long. Had I known what we were going to have to go through this year I would have shut up.

I got about 9 inches ultimately around Dec 19. It's snowed all yesterday and all day today, but it's very fine and powdery (probably because it's so cold) and is blowing right off - not a lot of accumulation. I did slide up and down the driveway today, but the main roads are quite clear.
Yes. You Johnson City people keep stealing our snow! We MIGHT have a shot at some real snow tomorrow. We will see. If the front goes south enough, we will get some accumulation.

Actually, in Knoxville, last January had 11 days above 50 degrees, and 10 days 43 degrees or lower, so it was pretty much an average cold year, possibly slightly warmer than average.

Well, we've had about 10 snowflakes. It started about 30 minutes ago. So, five minutes ago I got the call. Yep. They are letting school out in 25 minutes. One hour early. They couldn't wait the extra hour. We might have 50 snowflakes by then.

By the way, I love it. It's one of the charms and idiosyncrasies of Knoxville. I wouldn't change a thing. And I get to see the kid early!

I hasn't been that way lately (until now) but my recollection from 10-30 years ago is we'd get about 3 weeks of really brutal (for us) weather in a row each year. I remember making that specific conclusion at the time. More often than not it was the last 3 weeks of January.
