I've posted something along these lines before, but the traffic out west really isn't that bad - certainly nothing like you'd see in a much bigger city. There's a fair amount of congestion at the end of the work day and around lunch time, but anybody who doesn't expect an increase in traffic during those time periods is just being unrealistic - that kind of thing happens everywhere. If you're planning on being the only one in Turkey Creek on a Saturday afternoon, you'll be in for a not-so-pleasant surprise. But, like I said, it's really not that bad, and finding a way around traffic is just a matter of being a bit creative with your route. The other day, for instance, I needed to get back to Weisgarber/Papermill from Lovell, and both I-40 and Kingston were packed (almost to a standstill). Instead of attempting to wait it out, I headed over to Northshore and took the "back way" that empties onto Kingston in the Bearden area. What could've been a boring 30-minute stop-and-go commute turned into a quick 10-minute jaunt. Not bad at all.

Traffic in the west side is not great, but it isn't horrible.
If anything, the traffic on the main highways can get on my nerves, especially the people just passing through. Some can be very aggressive. I like my neigborhood in Fountain City/Inskip, the best, though. It is full of locals in an established neighborhood with good schools. Nothing against transplants. I am one. But after living in Florida where everyone was so transient, it is nice to live in a place where my neighbors can tell me about the history of my house and who use to live there. I also like looking at trees that have been there for a couple of centuries. |
