How awful. It said Inskip. Isn't that where JMT or maybe Hiknapster lives? I wonder if this is Lauren's elementary.

So sad. Why do people feel they need to use guns to resolve an issue. I'll never understand it.
Thank God there were no kids in the building, but still.

Default So sorry to hear

My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured and their families. And thank goodness the children at the school were not involved, it's bad enough as it is. I hope that the two that were shot recover quickly and that they don't have any long term problems.

Apparently the shooter was a 4th grade teacher.

My children go to Inskip. They're coping better than I am. I'm a teacher at a high school, so every time there is a school shooting, I become a basket case. I remember Fall 2008 when my school was on a 3 hour lock-down because of the Central High shooting, I was sitting in the floor thinking, "If she was high school age, my daughter would be there--she was zoned for that school". I never imagined that a little over a year later, I would be sitting down with my kindergartener and second-grader and telling them that a teacher shot their principals. I keep wondering what time the shooting would have happened if schools had released at regular time. Would he have waited until kids were clear of the building? Did he have the gun in his class when the kids were there? My kids are excited that they have 2 days off, but I have to walk into my school building tomorrow and pray that a teacher whose contract isn't being renewed doesn't decide to repeat today's events.

I cannot imagine the horror that you are going through both as a teacher and as a parent. There is a special place in hell for people (especially ADULTS) who fire guns in a school.

I don't live in the Inskip area but I'm not too far away. I also have a friend who's doing student teaching there right now and have friends with kids at Inskip. It's a close-knit school full of very loving, very professional teachers and staff. I am outraged that something like this would happen at any school but particularly at Inskip. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.

Well, anything is possible, Charz, but I doubt it will happen again. It isn't often that a teacher walks into a school and shoots the principal and assistant prinicipal. In fact, I've never heard of it, although it could have happened somewhere, unfortunately.

And I'd like to think that he did it when the kids weren't there, but who knows. Of course, I'd like to think that he didn't do it all.

Thank you jab and bones for thinking of Lauren. She is in Sterchi. She's upset about the shooting and that it was so close, but she's fine. I'm glad to see that your kids are fine, too, Charz. By the way, mysticfire contacted me immediately to make sure that Lauren was okay.

And Charz, is that what happened? His contract wasn't being renewed?
