Default Seymour

Planning to move to Tenn in a few months. Can anyone tell me how it is to live at Smoky Crossing in Seymour? It seems very nice, any retired people around that area?

My husband and I are planning to move to TN. Seymour as well. From what I have been told is a growing area and a very nice place to live. We will check it out in Aug. I am so ready to leave FL. Can't stand the high cost of living any longer. I would like to know about the weather?

Good luck on your move!

Seymour is very nice and it is growing. I am not sure if there are a lot of Retirees there or not but there are a lot of older folks that do live there. I hope this helps.

We toured Smoky Crossing - they are townhomes about 12 years old from 1 - 3 bedrooms. Facility has swimming pool, fitness center, and walking trails. It also allows pet for an extra fee. We were told most people come to rent there before buying a home. It's right on the main highway in Seymour which leads to anything you may need within minutes.

Seymour used to be a nice community, but it's growing really quickly and alot of people are moving here from other areas. The nice lands and fields are quickly dissapearing and in their place are more subdivisions and of all things, STORAGE buildings. The highschool is limited on extra resources and alot of the older children end up busing up to Sevierville for vocational classes. The schools are a mess as far as traffic. You sit for an hour to pick up your child and this even after they have built a new school. Two newspapers, one that has been here a long time, but is very small, and one that is newer but the newspaper is basically full of self advertisement. I've been here too long (15 years) and am looking to move it has changed so much.

What maybe not-so-good for some, but maybe it is what others are looking for. In this case, it would be my husband and I. Sick of FL and all the do-gooders who passes all these sick insurance bills and property taxes. Small people can't live in FL anymore. FL is all for the well-off folks. We are working class people and it is taking everything that we make and then some just to kept our heads above water. I am a native of FL and I know first hand what things are like down here. But we have also lived for 11 years north of Asheville NC.

In Aug we are going to TN to check out Seymour. I will have to work, and I plan on working in Knoxville. Seymour is close to Knox and I do think we will like the area. House is on the market, but no takers. Live in Marin County FL. House is on 4.69 areas and listed for 345K. Cheap for FL standards. Real estate market is flat. We can't move until our home sales. Can't wait until we can get out of here and start over. It is GODS hands and he will take care of us.

Default I live in Marion county too

I also live in Marion County and have lived in FLorida all my life but its time to go. Seymour from all I have seen online and all I have heard from people is a nice place to live. I should know by Monday if and when we are moving to Smoky Crossing. We are retired so limited income should go a little further living there then in FL. I am excited thats for sure, let me know when you go what you think and if you get a chance checky out Smoky Crossing since I am leasing sight unseen so to speak. Linda

I am excited as well. My husband and I will be leaving for Seymour Aug 17th and plan to stay a few days checking things out. From all the info that I have been reading online and hearing talk from others, Seymour would be the right place for us. Planning on renting for awhile before buying a house. We have to sale ours first. Been on the market to long. Nothing we can do about it. It is a waiting game for home sellers.

Was hoping to make the move before end of year. It all depends on the real estate market.

Good luck to you! God bless!

Default its official

Its official, we are moving to Seymour in September and we are excited. Its a little hard leaving family behind but they have their own lives and we need to move where there is something to do, not much to do in Marion County unless you drive a couple hrs in horrible traffic. We have everything all set and we are half packed already, not that we are anxious, lol.
