We live in Blount County (Maryville). We still have Alltel (had a contract when we moved, and didn't want to pay penalties). We have the nationwide calling plan, and never have a problem with a connection. Of course, with the nationwide plan, we roam, but we've never had trouble getting a signal.

There is no local Alltel office, so you would have to have the free roaming or it will cost you. The closest office is about an hour north of Knoxville.

alltel doesn't have native coverage in east tennessee, you will be roaming on another carrier (probably verizon, I think). You would have to switch to a carrier around here, or get a national plan with alltel so your bill wont' be outrageously high.

Would anyone be willing to share an opinion on Sprint's coverage in the Maryville area?

Default Nextel

My son has land up near Douglas Lake and he has Nextel, when he's on the mountain he cannot make calls........he has to go down into the valley to make a call to me in Fl.

I sometimes worry that if something were to happen how in heck he'd be able to call for help. But he loves his piece of God's green earth up there.
