anyone out there know anything about Jefferson city, I don't see too much in the way of city info online. Is it just a suburb of Knoxville? or is it a pretty thriving city of its own. Could u work up there and live south of Knoxville like in Blount county?
Any info would be appreciated |

The estimate for driving between Maryville and Jefferson City is 45 miles or one hour and five minutes.

Jefferson City has a Dam, Carson Newman College, Jefferson Memorial Hospital, ( may hve changed to Baptist), Walmart, getting a Lowes soon and several resturants. . Blount county and K town are a bit far. Closer would be Strawberry Plains which is Jefferson County for the most part, some is in Knox county.and prices are a little less. Knoxville & Blount are Knox County, Jefferson City is Jefferson County. |

Wouldn't you rather live in Jefferson City, though? Isn't it cheaper?

Personally I would pick Jefferson over Knox but then again I was born and raised here. (Not Jeff City but White Pine). My wife is a nurse and she communted for a few years to K'town and our youngest daughter is hard of hearing and UT was where we took her for the first 10-12 years for speech. Great audiology dept.

That's what I thought, hilly7.
I've seen a few people that have commuted FROM Jefferson City to Knoxville. They didn't want to do it, but they did. I can't imagine doing it the other way around. |

Hi, thanks for the responses Sounds like a city of its own with a hospital, and a university and all, does it have a thriving local scene, and a downtown? or is it a small city trying to recover itself by bringing in local business and out in the middle of nowhere? Is it pretty much like Dandrige in its quaintness? and proximity to Knoxville?

Sorry, I didn't finish the last one and stopped at about. Had customers walk in plus 2 new Realtors needed help, rest of the day was busy.
In about 30-40 minutes you can be in K'town, via New Market & Rush Strong. JCHS (high school) is a Dandridge addess but actually closer to Jeff City. There is a place in N.M. to get water, we fill our tanks for our fountains there for the office. Deep well, pure & clean, .25 per gallon honor system. Then there is the Dam, people fish and kids hang out there. Prices are cheaper there in general but Jeff County has been going up pretty quickly. Still, for the safety of the neighborhoods it is a bargain. |
