Relocating to Las Cruces (Mesilla: new house, subdivision, traffic)

Hello,

I will be relocating to Las Cruces in October with my nine year old. I am looking at a new house in the Avalon subdivision off of W. Piacacho and N. Valley Drive. The elementary school for the area is Alameda Elementary. What can you tell me about the area?

I live a couple blocks north of there. Traffic is kinda of a problem right now cause they're redoing Valley, but it'll get better. When the high school is open two times a day the traffic gets real bad, did I drive like that when I was in HS? That said, someone coming from a real city would laugh at me for complaining. It's a pretty nice area with farmland a short distance to the north. You drive through a good deal of it from Avalon to Alameda Elem.

TKO: When is Meson de Mesilla reopening? Seems the revovations are taking forever.

I guess the jazz lady isn't through with the remodel. I'm really not sure but I'll see if I can find out.

I'll be in LC from July 6 - 10. Am very interested in Trails West. My house is on the market here in Massachusetts even though this is a miserable time to be selling. As soon as the house sells, I'll be heading to LC.
