Las Cruces
I would like anyone out there who lives in Las Cruces to tell me about the city.
Here is what I am looking for:
Do they have a mall there, if so, how many stores are in the mall?
How many Golf courses are in the city?
How much is the average house that is 2000 sq ft with 2 car garage, 3 beds, 2 1/2 baths, and about 1/4 to 1/3 acre for a house less then 10 years old?
What is the crime rate like? Are cars stolen frequently?
What is the job market like?
How far is it to White Sands Missile Range? EL Paso?
What is the population of Las Cruces?
Is the housing market cold, medium or hot? Will prices rise in the next 5 years?
Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the information you require is readily available on reliable internet sites, and without the bias found on these kind of forums. Check MapQuest for distances, official city and county, chamber of commerce websites, etc. There are also many real estate and crime statistical websites you can check. These are all much better sources of information, and more reliable. There are a lot of misinformation and opinion on this message board.

I think Domino is right about most internet forums and the lack of correct
and relevant information about a place town or city. We all have different
backgrounds and we all tend to see things from a different perspective.
I will say however that even though I do not live in LC I do live very close
and I go there at least once per week. From what I know about LC is
that I find it to be a nice and progressive town. I don't know about the crime because I don't live there but I have many friends who do live there and they don't seem to be complaining but any town is subject to car theft and crime. It is very close to white sands but I can't remember exactly how close and there are golf courses there but since I don't play golf I havn't counted them. You might be better off to hop a plane and come and visit if you are serious about a place. You can only accomplish so much on a computer forum. If you were to fly and rent a car you would be closer to fly to the el paso airport. That way you will get to see the largest city that is LC's neighbor. I think el paseo is only about 40 to 50 miles from LC.
Good luck and if you like the desert you will probably like LC.

I was born and raised in LC, NM. It's growing rapidly. If you're looking for a house to buy, now is the time. We've got TONS of houses on the market right now, went through a period where it was a sellers market (mom's a realtor!) and there were no houses. Now there's a lot. But the prices are going up. My guess would be you're looking at 250,000 + for what you're looking for. We do have a mall, I think it's small in comparison to other cities, but if you're looking for big malls, we're a 45 minute drive to El Paso, you can find anything there. I shop at Marshalls, Ross, those kinds of places. Whites Sands Missle Range is about a 30 minute drive. Job market definitely depends on what your occupation field is. Not a golfer but I know we have the university course and at least 4 others. I believe our population is around 80,000, changes when university is at full swing. I think crime is pretty average. Like I said I've lived here most of my life and I've never had one of my cars stolen! New Mexico is really a beautiful state, Las Cruces is about a 2 hour drive from Ruidoso, where you can ski and see forest if you like. Good luck!
