Do you mean Picacho in AZ? The ones at Akela are pecans.

The ones at Picacho (and any orchard you'll see from Picacho Ave in Cruces) will be pecans too. There are walnuts (large tree with whitish bark) and pistachios (small tree) near Bowie along I-10 in AZ. Those are pretty much the only trees you'll see in orchards in the southwest - least until you get a little higher for apples.

They don't look much like the pecan trees back in San Antonio at all.

I was simply pointing out that one doesn't have to go to AZ to see pistachio trees, this being the NM forum and all.
