Wink Las Cruces!

Hello anyone living in Las Cruces, My name is Joanne and I am now living in RI where I was born.I have lived many places, California, Wyoming,Florida and Puerto Rico. I'm sick of city life, crowds, crime, drug dealers, unfriendly consciousness, garbage, smog, pollution, lack of natural life, etc... Also, I have very advanced degeneration in my spine, arthritis, my docs are suggesting that I move to New Mexico or Arizona. For some reason my heart says NM.I welcome any information about NM in general, Las Cruces especially.I recieve disability, my husband works in the Hotel Industry, he is an engineer, with surpervisory experience and also in Housekeeping.See you soon, we are planning on moving in January.

Default Home is Where Your Heart Is

Funny thing about New Mexico - it really does call to people, at least it did to me. I am moving to Las Cruces (next week, yayy!) after deciding it was the place for me pretty much 'sight unseen'. I have been intrigued by NM since I was little and fell in love with Georgia O'Keefe's work and once I was able to actually travel there, I knew I was HOME in an intimate way that I can only describe as spiritual. I also feel healthier when I am there than anywhere else I've ever lived. Only negative I can think of is that you may miss being close to the ocean, but, the Organ Mts. really are something to see.
Good luck and have a blessed holiday.
Alison.

Tiger Lily ~ I can relate to almost every word in your post ~ it is like you are describing my own feelings for New Mexico.

When I move to New Mexico, I can't think of anything I will miss about living in other places, except leaving all my friends and relatives behind. (BUT.....they can come and visit. )

Dear Ladies, TigerLily and Towanda, We have decided to leave here,Providence, Ri, by Jan 15th, I have my last doc visit on the 11th.It feels like we are starting a new life, we are very excited, have a good chunk of cash saved, will stay in motel while my hubby looks for a job then get an apartment.TL, what part are you moving to? and T what city do you live in? The ONLY thing I will miss are the ocean, I thought that I could never leave the ocean, but there are other beautifut things there, I have been doing a lot of web research on NM and it is beautiful and I have two granddaughters here, one is 11&1/2 and the other will be 13 in Jan, but I also have one 5&1/2 in Florida, they understand that my health is suffering here, and are excited about visiting me in NM.Thank both of you for not thinking I'm nuts, I am learning to listen to my inner voice and we both feel that this is what we are supposed to do.Talk again soon,Joanne

Oh my, Joanne ... if you are nuts then so am I. And that is exactly what it is .... and inner voice....

This move has been my dream for almost 40 years now! I have made dozens of trips to NM through the years, and it is every bit as "enchanted" as you are hoping.

I will be moving to Santa Fe ~ hopefully in May of 2008.

Dear 6foot3,I thank you for your response and welcome, you see how friendly New Mexicans are! I knew it! That is the kind of place I want to be!Here in RI it is so cold, in more ways than one, if you get my drift. I want to know everything I can, I have done lot's of research already, I know it's friendly, great weather, beautiful, lots of Mexican food, which I cook and love, I'v heard the rent is not too high, there are lots of hotels, so my husband should'nt have a problem getting a job he also has landscaping exp, although not in that climate, he knows, irrigation,AC/refridgeration, and heating, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall etc..He has the most exp in Hotel Engineering, you know fixing and maintaining things in the hotel about 15yrs.We have a cat, very well trained, a cockatiel, pretty quiet actually, how are landlords about animals? We have a car so transportation isnt a prob, I drive, but not here in the city, people are nuts here, and I was in a really bad accident, not my fault, I broke my neck so I will only drive in calm environments.Where do you live, we have our hearts set on Las Cruces, we don't know anyone there but we are both friendly people, so what the heck are we doing here, you ask?We definitly don't belong here! We are planning to leave here Jan 15, driving so I don't know maby there in 3-4 days,See you then, thanks,Joanne
