Dear oppa, well I'm no expert, have done a lot of research though, SF was our 1st choice, however I really need or prefer warmer weather and even though it would be easy for my hubby to get a job there, we struggel here because of the rent, so don't want to struggel so hard there, but if you are being transferd there at least you have a job already, I'v heard that a lot of people work in SF but live outside a ways for cheaper housing.Either way good wishes to you,Joanne

Dear Brantasanadensis, thanks for the encougagement, I truly feel that it will be a good move for us,I'v had 4 doctors tell me that if we were there I could prob cut down a lot on my meds, spiritually it would be better as there would actually be some of mother nature to be in there, not much here. Better air there too, I also have lots of sinus, allergy which I think is actually from the pollution.Take care,Joanne

If I recall correctly, former TX Governor Ann Richards didn't get her first motorcycle until she was in her 60's. Or maybe it was her first Harley. Anyway, she was 60-something. She's my role model
Dear yukon, Yea, see, although I don't think I'll be driving, could never even ride a bicycle, I'll have hubby drive and enjoy the ride!Joanne

Moving down to Las Cruces for at lest the winter months and check it out.

I am from Washington state, just entered N M last week. I ended up down here in New Mexico just south of Las Vages NM, just a little ways out of Santa Fe. But the room mate that I was to share a house with did not work out. So Now I am sitting here with a very loaded pick-up truck with a canopie shell with all my things in side and it snowed Thanksgiving day a few inches, a bit cold too !! I am used to cold but getting sick of it after 18 years in WA. state, Time to try something new !! I am homeless right now, on the road too, who know where I will end up!! But need a place soon as it will be winter and colder and need to have a place to get out of the weather and make some money as well.

So where to live ???? first time ever in New Mexico, don't know a soul in New Mexico. So I have been looking into Las Cruces, I don't know exactly why, maybe because it's south of here and probably a bite warmer. Any one know how hot it gets in the summer months ?? I looked on Google Earth, sailed around a bite above the city, lots of nice farms around, city seams a little bite big for a small town country guy like me, but maybe it's a place to start for something new. So all the INFO people have been posting is doing me good also.

Thanks for the great pic's 6 foot 3 there awesome !!!!

Looking for a place to stay and hopefully in a nice no crime, no gang area. I need an economical place to live, ( that's warm inside) to rent, a bungalow, cabin, duplex apt. or a very small house trailer, no second flooor apartments for me please. Preferably not in the noise parts of town ether nor in the central part of the city. Hye but what do I know ....lol..lol
Any suggestion would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks !!

I am a single man, youthful minded of 63, an artist and an import jewelry vendor and I am also looking to meet nice mellow earth friendly hip single slender women. so get back to me !!

So good luck to all of us !!!....lol..lol

Later you all
~ Oro
Dear Oro, keep your intent focused, there a lot of adventureres out there and youre one of them, welcome to the adventure, you will be fine. I don't think you will have to worry about noise or other negative stuff there, at least form what I hear, anyway good wishes to you,Joanne

Ojo Caliente is a small town in northern New Mexico, not too far removed from Taos. A bit of a drive from Las Cruces, and there may be something suitable closer. T or C for one has hot springs as well. But it is not just this but the spot and aura of the place in particular.

People from across the world have visited Ojo Caliente. It is simply one I know, but in moving you might consider closely why you are doing so. Simply relocating is something but in no more than this you will probably maintain present patterns. If your health is to change, so must you.

This but one suggestion. But if in sincerity you pick but one direction to step forward, the next step will come. New Mexico is a wonderful place for such things.
Dear Idunn, Thanks for the advice, however am I to assume that you are telling me to examine my lifestyle? Actually it's because of my life patterns having changed that I am, actually we are desiring to change our living situation. We have been unhappy here for a long time, we were in Florida for 3 years, moved back here to help my daughter, now we realize that you have to live somewhere because it's where YOU want to be, not for someone else, was going to go back to Fl but it is very, very humid there, not good for my bones either, Spiritually speaking we desire more of nature, and a diffrent consciousness than in a city like Providence.I do understand that happiness comes from within and not from where you live, which does contribute though, We derive our happiness from our love of ourselves and our desire for tranquility can't possibly be a wrong motive, Thank you Joanne

Default My Two Cents for Globaloro

Las Cruces is definitely warmer in winter and summer than Santa Fe, and less expensive too! Based on your description, I think Las Cruces is a good choice (okay, I am EXTREMELY biased. Check out the Farmer's Market on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Second choice would be T or C.

LC is far less expensive than SF, and it is warmer in the winter. You might see a bit of snow 2 or 3 times in a winter, but it IS a desert, so nighttime temps are cold. In summer you can think 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Phoenix/Tucson. The city sits in the Mesilla Valley, an agricultural area created by the Rio Grande, so the greenbelt keeps temps down a bit as well in summer.
DesertPeace....the air is generally clean, but DUST is very common, especially in the spring. Expect to spend some days sealed up indoors if you're particularly sensitive. Again...it's green, but it's in the Chihuahuan desert.
globaloro: LC isn't that big...anyone can find downtown...it's small. Visit the museums and COAS books while you're there.
And good luck to you both.
