First ever NCAA Tournament win yesterday. Tomorrow vs Arkansas. If they win, we are in the Sweet 16.

Arkansas up 26-17 at the half. New Mexico State just can't hit their shots, even from 15ft. or less. Possibly the jitters, been way too many errors on the Aggies. NMSU is definitely the dark horse here, but they need to get out of the locker room with some discipline--and fire.

Nice 2nd half comeback, too bad NMSU couldn't capitalize at the end.

Coach Jans got poached by Mississippi State. 2 million a year. Too rich for the blood here.

Actually, the Aggies have won a few games in the NCAA tournament including a run to the Final Four in 1970. That team was eliminated by UCLA who was a dynasty at that time. UCLA eliminated NMSU three straight years in the tourney so it is possible that UCLA blunted NMSU tourney runs that might have been deeper had they not played UCLA in the earlier rounds.

NMSU had been playing in the Las Cruces High School gym up until 1967. And they played there because it was a better facility than the NMSU gym at that time. It's truly amazing that Lou Henson took a team that started their careers playing in the local high school gym all the way to the final Four. It was good timing that the Pan Am Center was built to feature those great Aggie teams. 1965-1970 period included some amazing basketball teams at NMSU, UNM and UTEP.
