I also followed the Roberto's inspection downgrade saga with great interest as I was one of the first posters to share my negative experience at Roberto's before the firestorm ensued. Yes, the comment thread got a bit silly (I have no interest in reading gossip about the personal lives of Roberto or anyone else), but the common feeling shared by hundreds of people was the same: the employees there are inexplicably rude and inattentive and the restaurant is dirty.
Today, a drunk driver drove his truck into the front of Roberto's - picture on the Sun News website. It's karma! Or something...

Maybe he just had enough attitude from the counter employees and did a Terminator-style Voy a volver...

I think we're all on board with that, Caligirl. They make excellent bread, as well.

Great Sushi - Japanese Kitchen
Move over Aqua Reef, Mix and Katana - Japanese Kitchen has opened in Las Cruces on Roadrunner. (it's in the same shopping center as Steinborn Realty) I've been there twice in as many weeks and while the Teppan Grill has not yet opened, the Sushi is some of the best I've ever had. It's not cheap but well worth the money. I just moved her from ABQ and had been underwhelmed with the local sushi fare ... until now.

Have you found any decent Chinese places here? I am no picky at all, really, just want above-mediocre. The only place I've tried is Wok 'n World, and was very underwhelmed.

Great to know Though, I have to say, I think the sashimi salad at Mix is fabulous.

Sadly, W n W is about as good as it gets. I haven't found anyplace better, and they deliver to Mesilla.
A really good Chinese and a good Thai restaurant would do wonders here.....

Oh, you are kidding, right? Seriously? Man. I get a craving for Chinese every once in a while, and like I said, I'm not looking for ultra gourmet at all. I like the fried dumplings crispy and the kung pao hot, the lo mein noodles not overcooked, and in general the sense of at least semi-fresh veggies.
