Default Liver & Onions at Nellie's

I don't know if anyone (including myself) has mentioned Nellies Liver & Onions in the past. This is a fairly unusual item for a New Mexican restaurant I suppose, but if you enjoy liver, give it a try. Today was only my second or third time to order it in the past several years, and I need to do it more often!

I wish I WAS kidding. W n W is uneven...sometimes pretty good and sometimes typically Las Cruces.
If you get to El Paso try Shan Dong on Lee Trevino. Also, I love Pho Tre Bien, a very fine Vietnamese restaurant that has relocated to Gateway East, along I 10. It's excellent, very fresh well prepared food. They'll help you thru the menu if you're not familiar with Vietnamese food. It tends toward fresh vegetables, a huge variety of soups (Pho among them) noodles and grilled meats served on fresh salads.
I used to like Uncle Bao's (Chinese) in the same area, but my last visit was disappointing and I haven't had a chance to go back.
The India Palace on N. Mesa is also pretty good, as long as we're talking Asian food.... much superior to the Indian place on University in LC.
I wish all these places were in Las Cruces....

Should anything have changed in the LC Chinese restaurant scene during my few months away, I'd be thrilled to hear about it. Otherwise, I'll be getting my fix when I go to El Paso.

Is there a Vietnamese restaurant in Las Cruces? In my experience, even bad Vietnamese is pretty good.

Located in La Mesa, just south of Las Cruces, and world famous for their chile relleno platter:

Pictured is the ORIGINAL building housing both the restaurant and bar. Today the restaurant is located out of the picture on the left.

Nice painting, jaxart! I almost didn't recognize Chope's because there are no Harleys parked in front
Here is a link to a woodcut of Chope's by an old friend of mine, Mesilla printmaker Tony Lazorko.
