Yes, I am pathetically wishy washy on this, but being a non-native New Mexican, I always kind of rooted for both the Aggies and the Lobos...but admittedly the Lobos when they play NMSU.

In fact, I am a huge college football fan and a real cfb junkie, and while Notre Dame has always been my favorite team since I was 7 in any sport, UNM and NMSU are my two "other favorite" teams.

I was surprised last year that NMSU wasn't a bowl team and scuffled more than I thought they would. The key this year in my opinion is that Mumme needs to get his team to play some defense. They play defense, there is no way they won't be a Bowl team. They'll certainly keep the scoreboard lighting up.

To me, the most interesting games here on this schedule are the non-conference games: at Nebraska (the type team that is capable of being Top 25 but also capable of gaffing a game like this at home in a huge upset), at UTEP (always obviously a huge rivalry), and v. New Mexico (ditto). If you could pull one of these three off, it would be huge for the program and give the season some legs going into the WAC slate.

Here is to hoping for a first-time-in-a-long-time Bowl appearance for the Aggies!!
