Today I got my first whiff of the delightful aroma of roasting chiles. It was my neighbors two doors down, and I thought about running over and asking if I could purchase some.
FYI, the Mountain View Co-op does chile roasting. I'm guessing they'll do it during their Sunday Farmer's market in front of the store. Does anyone know of other places where fresh roasted chile can be had? I'm tempted to check out the Hatch festivities this year. Is it an absolute nightmare mob of people and the typical circuit of arts & crafts? Worth going or not? |

If you go up to Hatch now, you won't find crowds, all you'll find is roadside stands that will roast your chile for you.
Bring an ice chest and a heavy-duty new trash bag to transport the roasted chile. By the time it gets back to 'Cruces it will be roasted to perfection. P.S. wear some good surgical type gloves when peeling your treasure... |

Pretty much all the grocery stores should have chile roasting going on. Or you could buy your own fresh and roast it on the grill.

Baca Chile in Mesquite. They are the BEST. We get Joe Parkers already roasted and frozen in bags and boxes. Just pop in your freezer. We get two boxes a year and eat 'em up fast!

My wife had to stop me when I was contemplating a Peanut-butter, Green Chile, and Jelly sandwich. I still think it would have been good.
