Default Mayfield To Open At Sun Bowl

New Mexico defending Football champion Las Cruces Mayfield will open up at the Sun Bowl against El Paso power Chapin high this friday. I'm expecting 20,000 to 25,000 at the game.

Anticipation builds for Mayfield opener in Sun Bowl - Las Cruces Sun-News

Should be a good one. Mayfield closes out the season vs. Las Cruces at Aggie Memorial.

All 3 Las Cruces schools looked good on week one.

RB Jacob Ceniceros of Mayfield rushed for 229 yrds against a strong Chapin team.

Mayfield 27
EP Capin 9

Las Cruces had 35 points by halftime and put the second teamers in after halftime.

Las Cruces 48
EP El Dorado 13

Onate with it's spread offence won by a stingy defense against a very good team.

Onate 12
Bel Air 9

All 3 El Paso schools are very good so the Las Cruces victories are impressive.

Yeap they play another tough one against EP Montwood who was Preseason #1 in El Paso according to the EP Times.

Albuquerque has 3 good ones in La Cueva, Manzano and Sandia's big win over Cibola last week. Nice to see the new schools finally play last week as Volcano Vista lost to Highland and Valencia (Los Lunas) lost to Los Lunas High. That's a record 122 high schools are playing football in New Mexico this year. Next year will add 2 more in Albuquerque Atrisco and Rio Rancho Cleveland. In 2 more years the new Las Cruces school will be added.

Yea Albuquerque teams are exciting to watch even northern New Mexico AAAA schools, Los Alamos plays St. Mikes and Santa Fe this upcoming week, and Espanola Plays Cuba and Pojoaque both LA & EV teams are expected to do good.

I see James Hall had a big night rushing for 165 yds on 8 carries and a punt return for a TD. Next week will be a BIG test as Las Cruces travels to play La Cueva in Albuquerque.
